BHOPAL : Former MLA Ashok Veer Vikram Singh alias Bhaiya Raja, who was undergoing treatment at Hamidia Hospital in judicial custody, died on Friday morning. He was 65. He was elected as an Independent MLA from Pawai in Chhatarpur between 1990 and 1992. Hamidia Medical Superintendent Dr DK Pal said, “Bhaiya Raja had suffered a brain haemorrhage and was admitted in Intensive Care Unit of the hospital on December 15. He breathed his last on Friday morning”.

He was serving life imprisonment after being convicted for murder of his grand niece Vasundhara Bundela, a student of fashion designing course at Misrod near here on December 11, 2009.

Besides life imprisonment, Bhaiya Raja along with his wife and former BJP MLA Asha Rani, had been convicted in an abetment to suicide case of their maid servant and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment/ His last rites would be performed at his native place Gharwar on Saturday.
