Little attention can prevent major mishap, said IG Jaideep Prasad while addressing a meeting of bus and petrol pump owners of Zone-1 here on Monday. “If you see any person or activity in suspicious manner, soon Dial-100 to inform the police,” the IG told the meeting. Prasad asked the bus owners to obtain fitness certificate and renew insurance time to time. “Police verification should be done before appointing anyone as driver or conductor,” he told the bus owners during the meeting.
Similarly, before terminating anyone from the service, the owner should first inform the police, the IG added. Bus owners should ensure that their drivers and conductors strictly following the traffic rules and they should be in uniform. All the buses should have first aid box, reserved seats for senior citizens, women and specially abled people, Prasad said. He also asked the bus owners to install CCTV cameras in their vehicles and report to police if any misbehaviour with women and children.
The IG also asked the petrol pump owners to install CCTV camera at their pumps and not to supply petrol in containers. The petrol pump manual shall be followed strictly, he directed. Prasad also asked the pumps owners to ensure toilets for women and drinking water at their filling stations. He asked the owners not to engage particular staff to deposit money in banks and instructed to appoint security guards at pumps. In the meeting DIG Irshad Wali, RI Vijay Kumar Dubey, CSP Bhupendra Singh, Aleem Khan and many others were present.
