BEGUMGANJ: The much touted claim of the Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Co Ltd has turned out to be a sick joke for the residents of rural and urban areas of Begumganj Tehsil alike. While the power distribution company has said it is supplying electricity round the clock, the area residents face undeclared power cuts for hours many times a day. The soaring summer heat compounds the people’s problems manifold.

Recently, the unexpected power cut which began from 1pm continued till 5pm. The inverters used by a few well-off people exhausted and there was no respite from hot weather for them. The manufacturing and business establishments had to keep their works going on with the help of generators burning costly fuel.

The load shedding for four times during the day and thrice in the night is a common phenomenon. Whenever the hapless people try to contact the power distribution company men over the phone it remains busy all the time as it is put off the cradle as the employees on duty do not wish to reply the people why the power supply has disrupted.

A number of people including Jokhiram Patel, Hazari Lal, Kishanlal Nema, Abdul Ghani Nusarat, Vishnu Sahu, Kamal Kumar, Kamlesh Vishwakarma and others recently handed over a memorandum to the superintending engineer of the power distribution company demanding to put an end to the undeclared load shedding.
