Heavy police force has been deployed in Chhindwara district in view of assembly by-elections and Lok Sabha elections. Nodal officer of the police department IG Anant Kumar Singh updated the Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantha Rao, about the security arrangements, during meeting of Election Expenditure Monitoring Committee. IG Anant Kumar Singh said that over 788 Flying squads, 798 statistical surveillance teams and over 400 video surveillance teams are engaged.
During the meeting railway nodal officer said that 293 teams have been formed and narcotics nodal officer said that 340 cases have been registered in Lok Sabha elections 2019 till date. Nodal officer of airport authority said that checking is being carried out daily. Nodal officer bank told that the income tax department is being informed about transactions above Rs 1000,000. Over 90 such suspicious transactions have been reported to the income tax department, he added.
’Public, farmers should not be disturbed’
Pulling up excise Department Rao said that there should be stern checking of transport, distribution and sale of illicit liquor. Strict checking of vehicles of star campaigners and candidates is must but general public and farmers should not be disturbed in the name of checking.
