Thrash women and children of the family, tie up elderly women

Khandwa : About 10 to 12 unidentified armed robbers struck at the house of a local civil engineer here during wee hours of Sunday and looted valuables worth over lakhs of rupees after thrashing the family members badly.

The robbers barged into the house of civil engineer Yusuf Fidavi, son of Ganibhai Fidavi, a senior lawyer of the town, at Ghaspura and tied the elderly women and other members of the house with rope before committing the robbery. All the family members were deep asleep, when the house owner woke up to a noise to find some people gathered by the window of his room. On raising alarm, about 10 to 12 armed robbers broke open the main door and stormed into the house.

Fidavi informed police that the robbers, armed with iron rods, knives, sticks and fire arms, thrashed all the members of his family, including women and children before decamping with precious gold and silver ornaments, cash, mobile phones and other valuables worth over Rs 4 lakh by breaking the almirah open. Fidavi further informed that the robbers were talking in a mixed language of Marathi and Hindi.

The city police have registered a case against unidentified robbers in the incident and further investigations are on.
