BHOPAL: The appointment of information commissioners has now been challenged by Dr Rupali Dubey in the Jabalpur High Court. The court has sought complete record of appointments from the state government. The counsel for the petitioner advocate Jagat Singh said that a case has been filed pressing that procedural norms for the selection process were violated.
Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh, who is a part of the selection committee, did not give his consent on the names of selected candidates. “Court has demanded all records related to selection of the commissioners to ascertain if the procedure was followed,” said the advocate. The Court also wants to know if a search committee was formed to select candidates out of total 187 applicants. Government also needs to provide documents stating reasons for selection of appointed candidates.
Mired with controversies, state government had taken out orders of appointment of information commissioners just before implementation of Model Code of Conduct. After a complaint the matter went to the election commission where go ahead nod was given on Monday.
