BHOPAL: The Congress alleged that the NDA government was taking revenge on farmers by not providing them with fertilizers, as they had lost the polls. Congress will stage a demonstration against “such injustices.” A joint statement was released by the party’s media state president Sobha Oza, vice-presidents Bhupendra Gupta and media coordinator Narendra Saluja, here on Friday. They alleged that the Modi government was taking revenge on farmers as they believe that they (farmers) were responsible for BJP’s defeat.
Urea demand for rabi crop was 3.70 lakh metric ton, but the Centre had sanctioned only 1.65 lakh metric ton, which is 2.05 lakh ton below the demand. Similarly, the DAP demand was 0.76 lakh metric ton and the Government has given only 0.02 lakh metric ton. Gupta said the state Congress government has waived off farmer loan to the tune of Rs 38,000 crore in which NPA of Rs 13,595 crore has been included. “But the NDA government instead of supporting the farmers has started a cunning game,” he alleged. He said if the Centre does not provide fertilizers, the Congress will stage a demonstration along with the aggrieved farmers.
MP to get 12 rakes of Urea soon
Chief Minister Kamal Nath has taken up the cause of increasing in supply of urea and other fertilizers in Rabi season for farmers of the state with took the meeting with the Union ministers. The state will get 12 rakes of urea shortly. According to the principal secretary, agriculture development and farmers’ welfare Dr. Rajesh Rajora, NFL and Chambal Fertilizers will supply urea to the state speedily from their plants. The Guna plant of National Fertilisers Ltd.
is planning to supply urea speedily to MP. At present fertilizers have been provided to several districts of the state. Additional member (Traffic) of the Union Ministry of Railways, Anurag has informed the department through his letter that 9 rakes of fertilisers are in transit, which will be received by the state within a day or two.
