BHOPAL : Two days after taking him under custody, STF sleuths on Sunday woke up to raid Sudhir Sharma’s office, which was already empty in MP Nagar zone II here.
Even being in STF custody, the mining baron and tout in Vyapam scam Sharma had removed documents, computers and other material from the office of his firm SR Ferrow Alloys, through his staffers and family members.
When STF officials reached with him at the office, following news that Sharma had managed to shift documents at other places by vacating the office, they found much of the material already removed from there.
They only found partition material and labourers removing it. Shocked to see it, the officials interrogated him in closed door and brought back to STF headquarters. His neighbours said the process of removing documents and files were going on for last two-three days. Even in night, they shifted some papers in big quantity in mini trucks.
The STF officials tried to know about the place where the documents were brought.
When asked by media persons, Sharma only said the office was on rent till June 30 according to agreement and as its term expired, he vacated it.
However, circumstances emerged after his arrest in Vyapam scam, could indicate serious apprehension of destroying evidence. He remained at large for four months and appeared in local court on July 25 following intense pressure from the STF and court that declared him absconder.
Official sources said he was also accused in a case of bribing mining bureau officials, filed by CBI and its firm was a party in this case. The case was filed on the basis of income tax report.
