UMARIA :  Tigress ‘Kankati’ was found dead in Bandhavgarh National Park on Wednesday morning. Her body was spotted by the local residents lying in the nullah behind the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Lodge in the morning. Kankati was nine years old and was the grand daughter of famous tigress Sita.

Injury marks were found on the body of the tigress. The body was sent for the post-mortem examination and the reason behind the death of the tigress could be ascertained after getting the PM report. The tigress might have died in the territory of the park.

The forest department on finding the body of the tigress swung into action and started a search operation for the three cubs of the tigress. The cubs were born five months ago and are missing. The department officials did not rule out any possibility of poaching and is investigating into the incident.
