Reports speak of insane person hijacking truck
BHOPAL: Seven people were killed and 24 were injured when a rashly- driven truck drove into a market at Pannilal Chowk under Kotwali police station, Satna on Tuesday. Three persons died on the spot while the other four died on the way to Hospital.
The injured have been admitted in District hospital, Satna and Birla Hospital, Satna, for the treatment. Deceased have not been identified. The localites have made arrangement of 60- 70 bottle blood for the seriously injured.
Collector ML Mina said, “ Seven people have been killed and 24 have been injured in road accident when a truck rushed in main market. Injured have been hospitalized for the treatment.” Satna MLA Shankarlal Tiwari said, “ The deceased have not been identified so far. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has announced Rs1 lakh to family of deceased and Rs 50,000 to those who are seriously injured and Rs25,000 for minor injuries.
” According to Kotwali police, driver had dispute and had beaten someone and while fleeing, he rammed the vehicle into the market. The driver is mentally unstable man who had allegedly hijacked the vehicle at knifepoint, some reports said. The truck, which was loaded with cement, was on its way from Maihar to Satna. After it reached Lehargavan, it was allegedly hijacked at knifepoint by an unidentified person who forced the truck driver to leave the seat and took control of the wheel.
The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders. Entire market was closed immediately after the accident. Traders and local residents protested the accident. Heavy police force has been deployed to maintain the law and order situation in the city.
