BHOPAL : The Shahjehanabad police on Friday registered two separate cases against those who attacked and thrashed a man claiming that he was child lifter and when the police intervened, they pelted stones and manhandled the cops also in the Shahjehanabad area. Police on the complaint of the victim registered a case against 10-12 accused and on the complaint of Constable Naresh Sharma who was also injured in the incident registered a case against 50-60 people. Most of the people who attacked the youth and police have been identified but no arrests have been made. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area to control any unpleasant situation.
SP North Arvind Saxena said that Waseen Raza, resident of Sanjay Nagar had gone to Sindhi Colony on Thursday night for personal work. While he was returning and had reached till Abu Bakar mosque some people spread the rumour that he was a child lifter and had come to the area to abduct the children. As the word spread large number of people surrounded him and started beating him up. The mob took him to some place where they further beat him up. Raza was said to be in inebriated condition at the time of the incident.
Police following the information reached the spot and took Raza in custody. The mob got furious of this and attacked the police officials.
They started pelting stones on the policemen. In the attack CSP Gopal Singh Dhakad along with half a dozen policemen got injured in the attack. Later the police shot tear gas and cane charged the mob to control the situation. Subsequently on the complaint of Raza and constable Sharma registered a case against the identified miscreants and started investigations.
