Unidentified thieves stole a purse carrying gold and diamond jewelries and cash all to the tune of Rs 7 lakh from an engagement (pre-wedding) ceremony being held at Radha Ri Dhani (Kanha Dham) located on Sehore- Bhopal road in Khajuri on Saturday night. The complainant Ramesh Bansal, who resides in Annapurna colony, told police that his wife was carrying a bag in which she had kept Rs 2 lakh cash and gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh.
She left the bag before going to greet couple on the stage. But when she came back after a few minutes, she found the bag to be missing. The whole family searched the bag in marriage hall but they did not find it. They approached Khajuri police station with a complaint of theft acting on which police registered a case and started the investigation. CCTV cameras are not installed at the venue so police are taking help of video footage of ceremony.
Cops have identified a minor boy who was roaming in the marriage hall. The boy is unknown to the kin of both the bride and the groom. In the video footage the ‘uninvited guest’ is seen wearing good clothes and roaming suspiciously in the hall. Police suspect the involvement of minor gang in this theft.
