BHOPAL : Habibganj police claimed to have busted a gang involved in trafficking of girls with the arrest of four of its members, including a woman, on Friday.
Beside their arrest, the police have also recovered a 13-year-old girl who was abducted by them from Jotiba Phule Nagar in the city and later sold to a person at Agar for Rs 1.80 lakh. The arrested accused has confessed to having sold as many as five minor girls, abducted from the state capital.
Town Inspector Habibganj Sudhir Arjariya said that the arrested accuseds were identified as Ramkali Bai, Harish Yadav, Tej Singh and Nagu. While one more accomplice Santosh, who is the husband of Ramkali Bai is absconding.
TI Arjariya further said that their arrest was made following the complaint of Rekha (35), wife of Pappu Dhanak who resides at Jotiba Phule Nagar.
In her complaint Rekha told the police that on September 6, 2012, Nandini, 13-year-old daughter of her sister was allegedly kidnapped and said that she suspected the involvement of a couple Ramkali and Santosh, who resides in their neighbourhood and were not seen since after the incident.
Later, the police registered a case against them and started investigation in which it came to fore that the couple took Nandini to the house of Hari Yadav, brother-in-law of Santosh from where the girl was handed over to Tej Singh who is the son-in-law of Hari and resides at Sarangpur.
Meanwhile Tej Singh, posing as Nandini’s as brother-in-law sold her to Mansingh Sondhiya in Agar for Rs 1.80 lakh and she was married to Nagu, son of Mansingh.
Subsequently, the police team arrested all the four accused and recovered the girl from Agar who was later handed over to her parents and all the accused were booked on charges of human trafficking and were being further quizzed.
Had abducted a 10-yr-old from Ayodhya Nagar The nabbed accused Ramkali Bai also confessed to have abducting and selling a 10-year-old girl Poonam from Ayodhya Nagar area with the help of her husband on January 12, 2015.
Later the minor girl was handed over to Amitabh Kanjar (23) in Rajgarh from where she was sold to Ramnivas (26) at Narsingarh from where the girl was recovered by Ayodhya Nagar police team.
