Bhopal: Four trucks, loaded with army material, were gutted after coming in contact with overhead equipment (OHE) line on Nagpur-Itarsi Railway route between Dharakhoh and Maramjhiri Railway station in Betul district on Thursday. Trucks were on the way the way to Faizabad from Bangalore on good train. Rail traffic remained disrupted for four hours. Dozens of trains were stopped at Mutali, Betul, Amla and other railways stations.
The trains which were affected include Southern Express(12722) was halted at Godadongri, Bhopal bound Southern express (12721) was halted at Betul, Patalkot Express(14624) was halted at Amla, Chhindwara-Betul Passenger was stopped at Betul, GT Express(12615) was stopped at Jaikheda, Puri-Jodhpur Express(20813) was stopped at Multai and Nagpur Express was stopped at Pairaina.
Fire Fighting was an uphill task for the police and civic bodies inside the forest in scorching heat. It was uphill task for police as well as civic body.Fire fighters were pressed to douse the fire. Affected bogies were detached with the help of other engines to check the fire from spreading. Superintendent of Police (SP-In-charge) SP Pandey said, “Railway officials rushed to spot. We did our job arranging fire fighters to douse the fire from spreading in forest. Railway team managed to separate the bogies. Still rail traffic was disrupted.”
