A play Dilli Teri Baat Nirali was staged at Shaheed Bhavan on Wednesday- the second day of three-day long event- 10th Bhishma Sahni Smriti Natya Samaroh. The fest is being organised by Karwan Theatre Group, Bhopal to observe World Theatre Day and to mark the memory of author Bhisma Sahni.
Written by Prem Kashyap Soz and directed by Nazeer Qureshi, the play talks about the Delhi of Bahadur Shah Zafar’s era, the last emperor of the Mughal dynasty. At that time Delhi was known for its vibrancy and liveliness so much so that all festivals were celebrated by one and all. The play ends with Bahadur Shah Zafar’s ghazal- Na kisi ki aankh ka noor hun, na kisi ke dil ka karar hun, kisi ke kaam jo na aa saka, mai woh ek mushte gubar hun…,’’.
It was presented by Karavan Theatre Group, Bhopal nicely. Obedullah Khan played the role of Bahadur Shah Zafar. Symbolic set, costumes, make-up and lights were used to create the Mughal era. Directed by Mridula Bhardwaj, a play Chief Ki Daawat will be staged on Thursday.
