Volkswagen is all set to bring the special edition Polo AllStar to India. The car was first unveiled in December 2015 and was later showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2016. The unveil was part of a promotional activity for the 2016 UEFA European football championship, which will be held in France from 10 June to 10 July 2016. So we expect the car to be launched around that time.

The European model gets revised fog lamps, alloy wheels, AllStar badging on the A-pillars and headlamp washers, which makes the special edition aesthetically different from the standard version. On the other hand, the Indian AllStar is not likely to differ much from the regular Polo, and might come with the AllStar badge and the reworked alloys. If Volkswagen brings the heated seats from the Euro-model, we will certainly be joyous.

In Europe, the AllStar is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that generates 108bhp of power. But in India the carmaker will carry forward the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel mills employed in the Polo. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Polo competes with the Baleno and the Elite i20. Read about the competition here.

The special edition will not only help the Polo counter the competition in its segment, but it might also help customers get a better deal, since the updated features will be an addition. Recently, Hyundai made a similar announcement about launching special editions of two of its models – the Xcent and the Grand i10.
