Will Tesla’s Model 3 electric car arrive in India, the answer could be Yes, but the question is when?
Recently, the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, at the unveiling of Tesla Model 3 car was quoted as saying that Tesla plans to open more stores across the world, from 215 currently to 441 in future, which meant that we could also see a Telsa store in India – if the company intends to ship cars to India.

The Delhi and Karnataka government have eliminated all local taxes on electric vehicles making them more affordable and accessible to more people. The Indian government has been planning to start National Electric Mobility Mission Plan, where it plans to sell 6-7 million of electric vehicles in the country by 2020. It is aimed at providing incentives to the tune of about Rs 14,000 crore for promotion of cleaner electric vehicle technologies with the aim of saving 2.2-2.5 million tonnes of fuel by the end of this decade. The policy is yet to be approved and implemented.
How does Tesla fit in here –
Tesla is considered the most successful electric car manufacturer in the world, with its $80,000 Model S taking on luxury sedans from giants Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW. The Model 3 on the other hand, it’s most affordable car, will go head to head in the entry-level luxury car segment taking on heavyweights such as the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

For the records, Elon tweeted that 180,000 vehicles had been pre-ordered within a day of its launch.
