A heavily camouflaged testing mule of the Tata Hexa has been spotted for the second time.

The Hexa will be the most feature-packed Tata product in recent times. The car shows several updated attributes such as projector headlamps with auto function, tail lamps with LED position lamps, 6-seat configuration with captain seats, diamond-cut alloy wheels and mood lighting. On the safety front, the vehicle comes equipped with six airbags and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). One important feature is the availability of drive modes — Automatic, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough-Road.

The mechanical duties are likely to be carried out by the 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine which powers the ‘more’ powerful Tata Safari Storme. You can also expect Tata to lower the capacity of its mill as it has announced that it is working on resizing its engines to skirt the ‘diesel ban’. The mill is likely to come paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Tata recently launched the Tiago as a replacement of the Indica. We expect the carmaker to launch the Hexa by mid-2016 and it will compete with Toyota’s to-be-launched offering, the Innova Crysta. The Indian carmaker is likely to keep the Hexa’s price under check, just like it did with the Tiago.
