Rajiv Bajaj talked about renewed focus on the pulsar brand to drive its growth in near future and the Pulsar CS400 launch would be the first step in that direction.

Bajaj India is all set to launch the Pulsar CS400 in August, its MD Rajiv Bajaj said in an interaction with shareholders on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Looking at the long-term growth of Bajaj Auto, the company disclosed its plans to invest Rs 2500 crore over the course of next three years. This would involve launching a number of new models and the Pulsar CS400 seems to be the first of them.

The Pulsar CS400 would be the most powerful bike from Bajaj Auto till date. It would also sport the biggest motor the Pune-based two-wheeler maker has installed in its products till date. The Pulsar CS 400 is expected to sport the same 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled fuel injected unit as is on the KTM 390 Duke and RC390, albeit in a detuned state to produce less power than KTM products. Also, this engine should produce more grunt in the mid-range, and would be mated to a 6-speed transmission. The Pulsar CS400 should come with disc brakes at both front and rear, and dual-channel ABS. However, whether ABS is offered as a standard or optional feature will be known when the bike is launched.

The Pulsar CS400 is expected to share parts with the RS200 to keep its price low. It is expected to sport conventional telescopic forks up front and a monoshock unit at the back for suspension duties. As far as the price is concerned, we expect it be less than Rs 2 lakh.

The Pulsar brand changed motorcycling in India and the launch of the Pulsar CS 400 would lead to another such revolution, Rajiv Bajaj said at the shareholders’ meeting. He also feels that Pulsar brand would disrupt the market again, adding that sales figure of 1,00,000 motorcycles would be a conservative estimate.
