Introduce double-decker trains between Churchgate and Virar
The Western Railway should introduce double-decker trains from Churchgate to Virar In order to ease the peak hour rush. If that is done, there is no need for an elevated corridor. At present, the Western railway has introduced double-decker traisn between Bombay Central and Valsad, Surat and Ahmedabad.
The railway should also increase the halt timings at the stations from 15 seconds to 30 seconds to fecilitate children and women to board or alight from trains.

FDI will benefit farmers, consumers
Prof Swaminathan, the father of green revolution, says “If FDI can stimulate farmers to get a fair price by sourcing their inputs from local areas, it would be a great fillip to our economy. The pro-FDI nine states have 19 cities compared to 37 cities in other states that oppose FDI.
Nevertheless, he says, FDI would still be a good bet and set up stores in the nine pro-FDI states. Presently less than 10% of the total retails are controlled by the organized big Indian investors. However the investment and operation risk of these domestic players are protected by the Agriculture Product Market Committee Act.
Therefore, the argument that multi-branded FDI retail investors would have an unfair advantage over the domestic players is wrong.

CBI sword helped win the FDI vote
This refers to the report “”Maya helps UPA — by 21 votes” (FPJ 8/12). BSP and SP helped UPA-II under the CBI threat. The Congress president Sonia Gandhi will not care for the small kirana shops and small traders who would soon join farmers who would now add to their suicidal numbers with the foreign malls flourishing soon. How Sonia dared to proceed when majority of states are protesting against the FDI?

Anna changes stance
Once a pal, Anna Hazare now bitterly criticises Arvind Kejriwal for launching his new outfit.
It seems Anna Hazare has been brain washed by those who surround him. Earlier, he was guided in his comments by Arvind kejriwal and his associates. Now he talks differently when he is surrounded by those who are against Arvind Kejriwal.
Abandoning child cases on the rise
Child abandonment cases are on the rise in India with incidents of more and more babies being deserted in trains and marketplaces. Mumbai has witnessed four such incidents in the last three months, and two in the last one week, all left in trains and on platforms.
Deserting one’s own child, born of wedlock or otherwise, is a very heinous crime. The age-old trend of baby dumping in deserted places has given way to placing them in crowded places like markets and trains as the deserters hope the babies would land in safe hands. If only this humanitarian thought had come to their minds, the world would have been a better place to live in.
In India, 7 out of 10 abandoned children are girls who constitute over 70% of the cases.

Wisdom dawns on Hazare
It is heartening to note that wisdom has finally dawned on the septuagenarian Anna Hazare, who has now realised that his one-time confidant, Kejriwal, has “become greedy for power. After saying that he would vote for AAP’s candidates, now he says he would not go anywhere near him. Anna has contributed to Kejriwal’s meteoric rise from an unknown activist to a ‘hero.’

Sainagar Stn is beautiful, but…
The Railways need to be complimented for constructing Shirdi Railway Station connecting Mumbai, to places in South and up to Howrah. Sainagar Station is very well built with good amenities for travellers. But to reach the main road that connects the Samadhi Mandir of Sri Sai Baba, the km-long approach road from Shirdi station is however in a bad state, with potholes and bumps. This inconveniences senior citizens and children. The authorities should level it up for pilgrims.

Sachin has proved critics wrong
Sachin Tendulkar is not done yet & his brilliant knock in the first innings at the Eden Gardens has proved his critics wrong. He sure has some quality cricket left in him. Form is temporary while class is permanent & people should not worry much about the master-blaster who is getting into his rhythm & we would see big knocks from him in the near future.
Everybody’s career comes to an end some time or the other & Tendulkar too sure would hang his boots in the near future. He is the best judge of his cricket & le him decide for himself when the times is ripe. He has all the records in cricket & we must allow this fine & world’s best cricketer to choose the platform & ‘The Match’ on which he would like to leave the stage of cricket.
