Cancel Bandra-Churchgate locals

The Senior Divisional Operations Manager of the Western Railway, Mumbai Division should cancel all Churchgate-Bandra-Churchgate services as these trains run empty most of the time. There is no need, or justification to run these services.

These rakes can be deployed to introduce Churchgate-Dahanu Road-Churchgate services. The proposed new services can be run on an experimental basis during the non-peak hours on the slow track

Democratic incumbent favourable

During their run up to the Election Day, both the US Presidential aspirants have led great stress on establishing strong ties with India. However, past experience tells us that a Democratic incumbent of the White House is somewhat more favourably inclined towards India than his Republican counterpart. Paradoxically, the picture stands
reversed from the point of view of the Jewish State. A Republican President is found to be more acceptable to Jerusalem than a Democratic one.

Celebrate Diwali in a simple way

Diwali is just round the corner. The enthusiasm of the people to celebrate with high expectation have gone down with the rising prices of all the essential items. Prices are increasing at the alarming rate due to very high inflation rate and forget about buying Gold, Silver and other precious material. I strongly feel that this is the first rime in the history that people during the Diwali festival are struggling for survival and are under tremendous pressure to handle rising prices. I strongly feel that this is the best time to celebrate the festival of light in the simple way so that the tradition and the religious functions are done with minimum expensive way due to explosive rising prices situation which is continue to stay in the coming days and will pinch everybody’s pocket to maximum level. It is high time the people must understand the situation and live with minimum means for the betterment of the life.

Equality before law!

Your editorial, ‘The arrogance of power’ (FPJ, November 3) should be commended for two reasons-one for the choice of subject and the other for right comment. Some English-language newspapers have not even reported the arrest of an anti-corruption activist at the behest of Union Finance Minister P.Chidambaram’s son Karti but you rightly condemned the unjust arrest. The more important consideration in the episode is equality before law! All are really equal before law? Is Salman Khan more than equal? What about Sanjay Dutt, N.D Tiwari to name just a few. While the ‘secular’ media went hammer and tong on BJP president Nitin Gadkari, they are silent about the Gandhi family’s alleged corrupt deals! So, all are not equal before the media! Some are adept in ‘paid news, some act on supari and few are blackmailing the industrialists and politicians! They are, in effect, extortionists! I would humbly request the media men not to indulge in these corrupt and immoral activities and become objective and fair.

Congress congregation at Ramlila

It was an exhibition of arrogant defence of non performance during the last eight years of mis governance, non performance and corruption.

The PM’s reading of the prepared speech absolutely lacked conviction and connect with the audience. However, the congress may try, it is impossible to defend non performance and corruption. The congress will have to mend its ways if it wants to rule or at least the Good MPs should come out of Congress and join political party like the JDU, which has shown how to be secular and also govern and leave evidence of clean governance and development.

Murky affair

Dr Swamy’s revelations on AICC loan deal has lifted the veil on another murky affair in high places and really puts the Congress in a tight spot. The sequence of events on this loan and how a successor company to AJL,”Young Indian” with majority share holdings for controlling interest by a family, only takes it to an inference the initial interest on sick AJL was not in reviving National Herald but on the premises as alleged by Dr Swamy, though subsequent protestations by the Congress assert the objective as revival of the National Herald. If revival of APJ run National Herald was the avowed intention, a circuitous route through another company “young Indian” for its revival defies logic.

CAG needs to plug leaks in his office

Digvijay Singh is quite right in asking the CAG to plug the leaks in his office because, his report on the matter of the conditional audit of the RIL books has again reached the media just like his earlier report on the presumed losses due to coalblock allocations. That the CAG’s is not satisfied with some of the government’s actions is well known and so it is all the more necessary that his reports are not leaked because such systematic leaks can be cited to support the view that he has perhaps a political agenda.
