The news that a non-matric has produced a brilliant piece of research work entitled “Shakespeare’s Men and Women” should be disturbing to those who put on superior airs and who lose no opportunity in calling the attention of the whole world to the imposing suffix after their names.
The non-matric author who hails from Hyderabad has once again proved that degrees and diplomas do not indicate the caliber or the cerebral powers of an individual. It may be pointed out that another man who was known as William Shakespeare was himself not a graduate. He learnt at the University of Life and his ability to create was a gift he was born with. It should be therefore a matter of great satisfaction to the greatest bard of all time to know that one who is not a scholar in the accepted sense has produced a research work on his masterpieces.
Those who entertain the view that obtaining a degree is the greatest accomplishment would do well to pause and revise their views on their alleged achievements! Our educationists would do well to find out why it is that so many of our young men who manage to get a degree find themselves inadequate in facing and tackling the challenges of life.
The non-matric author has exploded the myth about degrees and pinpointed the need for a new perspective in planning education. It is good to remember that the lack of a degree did not in anyway adversely affect the genius of Shankaracharya or Shakespeare.
