Thane Road Accident: Driver Dies After Losing Control And Overturning Truck; FIR Registered

A container truck driver died after losing control of his vehicle, which overturned in Bhiwandi on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Ram Lakhanadar Chavan, a native of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred on June 18 near KB Chowki in the Pipeline area of Bhiwandi, under the jurisdiction of Shantinagar Police Station. According to police, Chavan was driving recklessly when he lost control of the truck, causing it to overturn. He sustained multiple injuries in the accident.

Locals and passersby immediately alerted the police and rushed Chavan to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police sources said the container truck was en route to the Bhiwandi bypass from the Pipeline area when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn and trap him inside.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. The complaint was filed by Police Sub-Inspector Kashinath Pote.

Vinayak Gaikwad, Senior Police Inspector of Shantinagar Police Station, said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence, leading to the overturning of the container and his death. An FIR has been registered accordingly.”

A post-mortem examination was conducted, and the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
