Navi Mumbai: Citizens of Navi Mumbai can now directly report complaints about bad road conditions or potholes to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). The civic administration has streamlined the grievance redressal process by revamping its e-application and launching a dedicated WhatsApp number for easy reporting.

The new app, ‘NMMC Daksh’, allows residents to raise complaints about various issues. For concerns specifically related to road conditions or potholes, complaints can now be submitted via WhatsApp at 8424949888.

City Engineer Shirish Aradhwad explained, “The Engineering Department has introduced the NMMC Daksh app to monitor the progress of ongoing projects and civic works. This revamped version of the previous app will help in tracking complaints more effectively. In addition, a dedicated WhatsApp number has been activated for citizens to report road conditions in the city.”

Complaints received through this system will be forwarded to the contractor responsible for road repairs via the Daksh App. These issues are expected to be resolved within 24 hours.

“To maintain good road conditions, contracts usually include provisions for annual maintenance. However, if residents still find roads in poor condition or encounter stretches with potholes, the new WhatsApp-based complaint system will help address such issues quickly,” said the city engineer.

In addition to road-related complaints, dedicated WhatsApp numbers have been introduced for other grievances. For electrical issues, residents should contact 8421033099, and for water supply complaints, the designated number is 8419900480.

Residents submitting complaints via the app or WhatsApp are required to provide corroborating pictures. The responsible contractor will be notified, and engineers from the relevant department will assess the issue and specify the necessary repairs. Once the work is completed, photographs of the repairs will be uploaded on the app or WhatsApp number.

After the issue is resolved, the engineering department will conduct an inspection. If the complaint was made through the app, a receipt of work completion and acceptance will be issued.

Residents can still register complaints through the toll-free numbers 1800222309 or 2310, or by using the grievance portal on the NMMC website at www.nmmc.gov.in.
