Mumbai Police Launch Manhunt For Man Who Drugged Woman, Recorded Assault To Extort ₹10 Lakh
A disturbing case of blackmail and sexual assault has surfaced in Mumbai, where a 41-year-old woman was allegedly extorted for Rs 10 lakh using an obscene video. The accused reportedly circulated explicit photos and video clips of the woman in a Facebook group.

Mumbai: A disturbing case of blackmail and sexual assault has surfaced in Mumbai, where a 41-year-old woman was allegedly extorted for Rs 10 lakh using an obscene video. The accused reportedly circulated explicit photos and video clips of the woman in a Facebook group. Following her complaint, the NM Joshi Marg Police Station registered a case against the accused on charges of extortion, rape and defamation.
About The Case
The victim, a Sion resident, came into contact with the accused in 2023. Their acquaintance began on February 16, 2023, during a shared taxi ride. Over time, the accused befriended her. On March 23, 2023, he allegedly offered her juice laced with drugs and sexually assaulted her inside a building. During the assault, he recorded explicit photos and videos of the woman.

Following the incident, the accused continued to exploit the woman by threatening to harm her child. Under duress, she was forced to pay him Rs 10 lakh. To further intimidate her, he shared her images and videos in Facebook groups. Upon learning of this, the woman approached the Worli police.
The Worli police filed the case under BNS Sections 308(2), 351(2), 356(2), 64, and 64(2)(M). However, as the crime took place in the jurisdiction of NM Joshi Marg Police, the case was sent there.
