The incident is of Chhatarpur's Bakswaha area, Madhya Pradesh.
According to information, the incident took place about a week ago when the boy broke into Chaurasia Mobile Shop near Bamhorhi Bus Stand.
He stole two new phones and five others that were in for repair.
Acting on a complaint filed by shop owner Purushottam Chaurasia, Bamhorhi outpost in-charge Birendra Paraste registered the case.
With the help of the cyber cell, Bakswaha police tracked the stolen phones and caught the boy from Majhguwaghaati.
During questioning, he admitted, “I didn’t have a phone, so I walked to the shop at midnight, broke the lock, and came back home by 4 am with the phones.”
Police recovered all the stolen mobiles from his house. According to Bakswaha police station in-charge Sunita Bindua, legal action is being taken under the Juvenile Justice Act.
The incident highlights the alarming rise of smartphone addiction among children, where the desire to own a device is now driving some towards extreme and unlawful actions.
