Lankan President meets Angela Merkel

Berlin: Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena met the German Chancellor Angela Merkel today at the German Federal Chancellery in Berlin. German Chancellor welcomed the Sri Lankan President at a special ceremony according to a Guard of Honour. Subsequently,The Himalayan Times reported that Merkel and Sirisena started bilateral discussions on trade and economic cooperation.
The Sri Lankan President, who is on a three-day official visit to one of the economically powerful state in the European Union, is expected to hold extensive discussions with German officials on stimulating the economic cooperation between the two countries.
