Eleven killed in China gold mine accidents

Eleven people have been killed in separate accid-ents at two gold mines in China’s central Henan province, state media reported on Saturday. Thick smoke engulfed a pit at Qinling gold mine of China National Gold Group in Lingbao city on Friday night, trapping 12 workers and six management staff, officials said. Rescuers retrieved seven bodies from the pit. Of the 10 people found alive, one failed to respond to emergency treatment while the other nine were recuperating, Xinhua news agency reported.
