Islamabad: The Zarb-i-Azb military operation launched by the Pakistan army in North Waziristan has left at least 232 suspected militants dead till date.
Twenty militant hideouts have been destroyed while eight security personnel have been killed, and seven others injured during the operation.
According to military sources, the operation is ongoing in Miramshah and Mir Ali and militants’ attempts to escape have been foiled. The ISPR says that troops have cordoned off all areas in North Waziristan to foil attempts by terrorists to flee the tribal agency, the Dawn reports.
The report says that the Pakistan army successfully destroyed two major terrorist communication centers located on the hills and a bomb-making factory.
While today marks the last day for locals to evacuate the area, the count of registered displaced families has reached 7,031 comprising over 100,000 people, the report adds.
Operation ‘Zarb-i-Azb was launched last week against local and foreign militants in North Waziristan on the directions of the Pakistan government.
