Kohat: At least thirty- three miners have been trapped inside Orakzai coalmine in northwest of Kohat city after a gas explosion yesterday. The administration and rescue workers reached the spot and tried their best to remove the mud, which had fallen onto the mine due to a landslide triggered by the blast.

Eighteen miners, who were near the entrance of the mine, have were rescued while eight were rushed to a nearby hospital said an official, reports Dawn. The official was, however, not sure about the miners stuck under the mud but said a cautious estimate puts the figure between 25 and 33. The rescue operations are underway. Further information is awaited.
