Beijing: One person was killed and 24 others were injured in an explosion in a bus in southwest China today.

The blast happened at 4:50 pm when it was traveling along a bridge in Sichuan province, a 12-year-old eyewitness said, adding she smelt gasoline before fire suddenly broke out at the back door of the bus.

Around 50 passengers were on the bus and most of them escaped through the front door.

Disgruntled elements in the recent past caused explosions in the passenger buses using gasoline.

This incident is still under investigation.
