Music Mirror: Homi Mullan

What: An NCPA presents ‘Music Mirror: Homi Mullan’ a Hindi documentary with English subtitles. Born in Calcutta in a family with no music background, Homi Mullan (1940-2015) went on to become a master percussionist and an ace accordion player. Since the 1960s, he played for hundreds of chartbuster songs in the Hindi film industry. This biographical documentary is a walk down memory lane with the maestro as he recollects his studio recordings, stage shows and song rehearsals and party times in the music industry. He plays one instrument after another with the same dexterity that wowed the likes of S. D. Burman, R. D. Burman, Jatin-Lalit and Shiv-Hari among many others. Directed by Kushal Gopalka. Admission on a first-come-first-served basis (NCPA members will get preferential seating till 6.20 pm).

The Third Generationetc week theatre the third

The Third Generation is a 1979 West German film, a black comedy about terrorism, written, directed and cinematographed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. The plot follows an ineffectual cell of underground terrorists who plan to kidnap an industrialist. The Third Generation was made immediately after Fassbinder achieved wide international critical and commercial success with The Marriage of Maria Braun.  It was produced by Fassbinder’s production company Tango Films for an estimated amount of 800,000 DEM. It was shot in Berlin from November 1978 to January 22, 1979, which is the period when the action takes place.

What: The play is based on Anton Chekhov’s short story called ‘The Seduction’. It has been adapted in colloquial language (Hindi and English) and taken a story of India. They have added music and shayari to add few extra flavors to enhance the beauty of the play. The play is a story of a man who claims that he can seduce any woman, but he always takes a Hercules task upon himself. He wants to romance a lady, who is beautiful and her husband is rich, famous, powerful, smart. Doing it just to prove his claim, he targets the happily married couple. Ticket: Rs

The Cartoon Brunch

What: India’s first and only official ‘Cartoon Network’ and ‘DC Comics’ food festival is being hosted at Courtyard by Marriott, Mumbai. The official partners being Cartoon Network and DC Comics (a Warner bros. subsidiary), the festival will feature favourite foods of various cartoon characters. E.g. Scooby’s Snack, Ben 10’s Smoothie, Tom and Jerry’s Cheese and a lot more. There will be a total of 100 dishes per event. The event will also include various activities like cooking workshop for kids, face painting, treasure hunt(s) and more.
