What: Psycho is a 1960 American psychological horror thriller directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock, and written by Joseph Stefano, starring Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, John Gavin, Vera Miles and Martin Balsam, and was based on the 1959 novel of the same name by Robert Bloch. The film centres on the encounter between a secretary, Marion Crane (Leigh), who ends up at a secluded motel after stealing money from her employer, and the motel’s disturbed owner-manager, Norman Bates (Perkins), and its aftermath. The murder of Leigh’s character in the shower is the film’s pivotal scene and one of the best-known in all of cinema.

Bonnie & Clyde

What: Bonnie and Clyde is considered a landmark film, and is regarded as one of the first films of the New Hollywood era, since it broke many cinematic taboos and was popular with the younger generation. For some members of the counterculture, the film was considered to be a “rallying cry.” Its success prompted other filmmakers to be more open in presenting sex and violence in their films. The film’s ending also became iconic as “one of the bloodiest death scenes in cinematic history”. The film received Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress (Estelle Parsons) and Best cinematography (Burnett Guffey). Sandip Soparrkar is is the first Indian to be certified by the ‘Ballroom Dance Teachers Training School’ in Bonn, Germany.
