Mumbai: Zoting panel rejects Khadse’s plea


Nagpur: The Zoting Panel rejected Khadse’s plea to recast issues. The case is regarding allegations of irregularities in the allocation of Bhosari’s MIDC land at Pune. As Former Revenue Minister had expressed his objection to the jurisdiction of the judge Zoting investigations. The MIDC land was transferred in the name of Khadse’s wife Mandakini and son- in- law Girish.

An enquiry committee had been constituted under the chairmanship of retired Judge to investigate the irregularities of MIDC land allocation.

Justice Zoting had already dictated the order on Wednesday itself but it couldn’t be completed on Wednesday. Where the Revenue Minister had to resign from his post on moral grounds and had denied charges of any land transfer.

During the last couple of hearings before Justice Zoting panel, the Revenue Minister had adopted a very aggressive stance while questioning the very jurisdiction of panel to go beyond terms of reference and sub issues and insisting on recasting of the issues.

The panel had conducted its proceedings in Camera at cottage no 13 of Ravi Bhavan. In the meantime, Khadse had questioned a similar proceeding underway which is underway at Principal Bench of Bombay High court stating that when Judicial proceedings are pending before the High Court. This will be inappropriate for the Panel to go ahead with the hearing as it might result in contempt to court.

While Khadse is accused of conflict of interest while facilitating transfer of the said MIDC land to his son in law and wife, where the commission had investigated the revenue aspect of the concerned land. Similarly, MIDC has submitted its documentary evidence to the panel.

However, the committee granted liberty to Khadse and MIDC to argue their case further on points further.
