Vikramotsav to be held from Mar 22 to 28; admin gives final touches


Ujjain : A meeting was convened on Saturday at the Mela Karyalay to discuss preparations for ‘Vikramotsav’ to be held from March 22 to 28. President of the Vikramotsav organising committee, MLA Mohan Yadav, collector Sanket Bhondve, additional collector Narendra Suryavanshi and other officials were present during the meeting. Officials were designated  responsibilities at the meeting.

Mohan Yadav instructed that washing and cleaning of Ram Ghat, Datt Akhada Ghat, Ranoji ki Chhatri, river Kshipra and other prominent places should be done immediately in light of the upcoming event. He also instructed different responsible bodies like the fire brigade, traffic police, electricity board and home guards to be vigilant during the event.

The opening ceremony of Vikramotsav will be conducted at Vikram Kirti Mandir on March 22 at 7 pm. A research seminar on the topic of ‘Vikram Samwat evam Kaal ki Avdharna’ will be held after the inaugural ceremony. An exhibition of seals and coins will also be held by Ashwini Shodh Sansthan, Mahidpur.

A ‘kalash’ procession will be taken out by Kanveri Shodh Sansthan on March 23. A drawing competition on the Vikramaditya era will be conducted on March 24. The prestigious Vikram Alankaran award, will be distributed in seven categories at Jaal Sewa Niketan on March 25. A play on Vikramaditya will be staged by Vishala Lokhit Sanskritik Samiti at the Freeganj premises of Jaal Sewa Niketan School on March 25 and 26. Ved Antakshari will be played at Mahakaleshwar Pravachan Hall on March 26. A cultural programme will be organized on the banks of river Kshipra on March 27. Also, Vikram Alankaran in the category of playback singing will be given on March 27. On the final day of Vikramotsav, an All India Kavi Sammelan will be organised at Tower Chowk.
