Ujjainites witness ‘ Alcher’, an IIT Guwahati cultural fiesta  Last Word Udaan: Giving flights to hope

Ujjain: Alcheringa, popularly known as Alcher, is the annual cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT) Guwahati. It is held for 4 nights and 3 days generally on the first weekend of February. Started in 1996 by a bunch of IITG students, Alcheringa, now in its 18th incarnation is being celebrated with a social initiative termed as ‘ Udaan: Giving flights to hope’ in the city of temples.

According to Abhishek Chauhan who is a student of IIT Guwahati, the cultural fiesta will be celebrated at the campus between January 30 and February 2, 2014. A social initiative is being organised in more than 100 cities of 25 States of the country on December 7 and 8, 2013. In the city of temples, the initiative was launched in Fazalpura located Balika Griha ‘ Aangan’ by IIT students Abhishek Chauhan, and his friends Jitendra Panjiyar, Sunil Chauhan and Prateek Bhawsar.

A drawing competition was organised under the social initiative in which girls of Balika Griha participated. Girls canvassed the beautiful images during the competition and exhibited their hidden talent. Girls were also shown inspiring movies and documentaries.The event ended with the spree of dance and musical extravaganza.Girls make drawing at Balika Griha to mark Udaan, ‘ Giving Flights to Hope’, initiative in Ujjain on Saturday.
