Ujjain: Construction of the new building of the government Kalidas Girls College (KGC) will be completed by March, 2017. The building will be equipped with all modern amenities.
At a meeting of the college public participation committee on Monday, it was stated that approximately Rs 15 lakh has been disbursed for furniture. The building is being constructed at the cost of Rs 10 crore and almost 60 per cent of the construction has been completed.
The new building is being built at the site located behind Gayatri Shakti Peeth. Collector Sanket Bhondve directed deputy engineers of the PWD to make adequate parking space on ground floor and security arrangements amongst others. The NSS Unit of the college will expand service activities and adopt a village panchayat of the district.
Energy minister Paras Jain was the chief guest at the meeting. It was also informed that the NAAC team of UGC will inspect the college in December for which expenses have been approved. Dietician and nutrition courses will be introduced in the home science branch of the college. Additional director, higher education, Dr Usha Shrivastava and principal Dr Mahesh Sharma were also present.
