Ujjain: The 40-year-old swimming pool constructed and recently renovated by Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) on Dewas Road, will be open for the public from Tuesday.
The filter plant of the pool and floor repairing costing Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh respectively, were undertaken by UMC. The pool was filled with water on Monday. On Monday evening, Mayor Meena Jonwal reopened the pool and felicitated life guards. Speaker Sonu Gehlot, Satyanaryan Chouhan, Neeturani Khatri, deputy commissioner Yogendra Patel and engineer OP Goyal were also present.
Residents of the city had been eagerly awaiting the reopening of the pool with summer almost here and most school examination over. According to deputy municipal commissioner Yogendra Patel, guards and swimmers have been deployed to deal with any untoward incident. For the current session, quarterly membership fee will be Rs 500 per head while monthly fee will be Rs 200. There will be separate timing for men and women as well as beginners. Life members will also have different timings. Passes are also being issued.
