Ujjain: Tension grips Mahidpur as communities fight over petty issue


Ujjain: Tension gripped Mahidpur as a dispute over slapping a child by a local resident sparked riot-like situation on Saturday. Erring parties pelted stones on each other damaging several houses in the locality.

The incident took place in Indira Nagar when a child was slapped by Shehzad, son of Sher Ali Kothar on Saturday.  The situation went worse when the child’s kin attacked Shehzad at his home, and thrashed his parents ensuing a fight between the two sides.

Officials of Mahidpur police station registered  a case against Kadir, Saddam, Nijam, Moulana, Razak, Bhayyu, Navab and others while on the statement of Tahir,  the police registered a case against Shezad, Gappu, Gabbar, Jakir Petha, Imtiyaz Ali, Kalu, Nawab, Sonu Razwan and some other residents of Indira Colony.

The police have also registered a case against both the parties under Section 147, 148, 149, 452, 427, 323, 294 and 506 of the IPC and started an investigation.
