Ujjain: State DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla said that all suspected activities pertaining to sexual harassment of school-going girls and boys should be under scanner and superintendents of police have been asked to ensure safety of the students.

Interacting with media persons at police control room, on the sidelines of a divisional level meeting of senior police officials, here on Friday afternoon, the DGP said that it is a big challenge to check incidents of sexual harassment against school children. “There are a huge number of students in each institution which causes difficulty to manage things. We are continuously in touch with school managements and parents to check these incidents. Parents must talk with their children. School department should also conduct inspection and examination of schools on regular basis. On our part we are maintaining tight vigil on drivers and conductors of school buses and I have already directed to launch immediate action against culprits,” Shukla said.

The DGP also said that digital India is growing faster because of economic progress and advancement of social media has posed many challenges before the police administration. “Information produced and made viral through social media has brought a new shift in maintaining public security and we are making sincere efforts to tackle such nuisances. The blue whale game on internet is not the only challenge as wrong practices are being thrust upon the younger generation, which has also put us on high alert,” he said.

According to Shukla, steps have been initiated to sack those police employees whose conduct has been found bad in terms of performing duty with honesty. “I have sought report from all SPs with regard to various types of complaints against the cops and their disposal,” he added.
