Ujjain: Precautions best way to keep AIDS at bay


Ujjain: A people awareness rally was taken out from Charak Hospital here on Thursday on the occasion of World AIDS Day.

Mayor Meena Jonwal flagged off the rally. About 70 students of the Nursing College participated in the rally having placards about awareness of AIDS. The rally passed through Ksheer Sagar, Naisadak, Kanthal and ended at Chhatri Chowk. On this occasion CMHO in-charge Dr NK Sharma, Charak RMO Dr Achala Mahajan, Dr Praveen Maheshwari and corporator Santosh Yadav were present.

As many as 25 units of blood were donated by the students of Government Madhav Science College during a camp organised by the Red Ribbon Club and National Service Scheme to mark the occasion of World AIDS Day. Principal Dr Usha Shrivastava, NSS coordinator of Vikram University Dr Prashant Puranik and Dr BS Bheelware from district hospital were present. Nodal officer Dr Pradeep Lakhre informed that chart, poster, slogan, quiz, etc competitions will also be organised during the Red Ribbon Week.

A public awareness programme was also held on Thursday by Ujjain Jan Shikshan Sansthan. On this occasion, social worker and yoga teacher Rekha Bhargava advised that precautions are the best way to be saved from AIDS.  Trainer Alpana Gupta, Anjana Vyas and Preeti Vishwakarma participated in the programme. The programme was conducted by Anita Panwar and gratitude was expressed by Alpana Gupta.
