Ujjain: The Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) marked its golden jubilee celebrations on Monday. Calling for digitalisation and a cashless system, managing director Dr US Awasthi urged farmers to use kisan cards which he felt was the best route towards cashless transactions.
Black money and corruption could be effectively rooted out through a cashless system, he pointed out. IFFCO has been taking huge steps in promoting cashless transactions for the sale and purchase of its products, thereby bridging the economic imbalance between people to a great extent, he said.
District Central Cooperative Bank chairman Kishan Singh Bhatol who was the guest of honour, in his address said IFFCO had played a major role during the green revolution and performed a major social duty. Joint-commissioner, cooperatives, VP Maran said, cooperatives always aimed to provide a better and peaceful life for peasants.
Farmers who produced a large harvest on limited land options also shared their experience. 10 farmers and 10 cooperative members from across the division were felicitated. State Marketing Federation chairman, Ramakant Bhargava presided over the programme. Chief zonal manager GS Rajput conducted the programme.
