Ujjain Municipal Corporation team removes encroachments from Manchhaman area


Ujjain: Encroachment removal drive of Ujjain Municipal Corporation in Manchhaman area on Tuesday led to protests but ultimately illegally constructed houses were demolished with the help of police force.

Residents of the colony opposed the UMC team’s action forcing them to halt its drive. Among others mandal adhyaksh of Bharatiya Janata Party, Hemant Vyas, along with his supporters, intervened and tried to stop the team. The team was led by additional commissioner Vishal Singh Chouhan while executive engineer Gyanendra Singh Jadon and sub-engineer Rajesh Singh Chouhan were also with the team.

Municipal commissioner Ashish Sigh inforned that on the vacated land a multi storied building would be constructed soon under Pradhan Mantri awas yojana. The commissioner also informed that no illegal constructions and encroachments will be allowed on the government land. The corporation will take stern action against such encroachments and constructions which impede transportation in the city, he added. He also advised to people to refrain from any construction and encroachment on roads and drainages. According to information Sudarshan Nagar is also an illegal colony very close to corporation’s land which was freed by the team of corporation.
