Ujjain: MP’s son, ABVP workers caught on camera extorting money for students’ union elections

Ujjain: Member of Parliament (MP) Chintamani Malviya’s son Dushyant, and some other activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were embroiled in a controversy on Tuesday as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) formally launched a police complaint against them, alleging they were instrumental in extorting money.

AAP’s Yuva Shakti unit in-charge Ashutosh Mehar, informed that some ABVP activists led by the MP’s son Dushyant Malviya, were accused of demanding donations from a coaching institute for the ensuing students’ union election. When the director of the institute declined to contribute, he was treated indecently and subjected to verbal abuses and manhandling. All these activities were recorded in the CCTV of the institute.

Later, a delegation of AAP went to Madhav Nagar police station, submitted CCTV footages and demanded registration of offence against the culprits. AAP’s Yuva Shakti State convener, Nishant Gangwani, stated that the students’ wing of the ruling BJP, that is ABVP was trying to win the coming elections at any cost. He said that such practices would not only adversely affect the students’ polls, but would also encourage unwanted activities.
