Ujjain: Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya met with Central Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Wednesday and urged that the well known Mahakal procession be telecast live on national channels.
Chintamani Malviya informed that holy city ‘Ujjain’ fell under his constituency and city was well known for its cultural heritage and was among the very few cities around the world,where such a beautiful blend of ancient historiography, cultural eminence, spiritual and scientific importance was seen.
He informed the minister that these cultural practices, like the Mahakaleshwar procession organised every year in Shravan month, should be made known to the world as it demonstrated the cultural and traditional richness of the country. He suggested that a live broadcast of Mahakal procession would help people around the world to have a glimpse of this rich traditional practice of worshipping Lord Mahakal.
He said devotees had asked him several times to make arrangements for a live broadcast, so that they could view the Mahakalsawari from their home itself. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore directed the officials to examine the possibilities and make arrangements for the live broadcasting of the Mahakal Sawari as soon as poosible.
