Ujjain: Meritorious and talented girls of the city were feted during the maiden Mayor Talent Felicitation event organised on Sunday evening. Toppers of class X and XII were presented with attractive prizes.
The initiative to recognise girl talent was taken by mayor Meena Jonwal after being inspired by ‘Save Girl Educate Girl’ campaign initiated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Prizes including scooty, laptop, computer system and other utilities were distributed to the talents on the occasion.
Rishita Devda of class X from School of Excellence was presented a scooty for scoring 92.33 per cent marks in board examination. Jayshree Singh and Puja were presented with laptop and computer for earning second and third positions respectively. In class XII, Lakshmi Rajoria, Kuhu Tiwari and Divya Solia secured first, second and third ranks and were given away scooty, laptop and computer respectively. Mayor also gave away cash prizes to differently abled students. Students of City Montessori School, Indira Nagar presented song and dance performance on the theme of ‘Save Girl, Educate Girl’ at the beginning of the event.
Those present included minister Paras Jain, MP Planning Commission former vice president Babulal Jain and BJP city president Iqbal Singh Gandhi. MiC member Kalawati Yadav delivered welcome speech. Satyanarayan Chouhan conducted the programme while deputy leader Rajshree Joshi proposed the vote of thanks.
