Ujjain: The news of committing suicide of a senior police head constable threw the entire police department as well as entire city in a great shock on Saturday.

Kanhaiyyalal Verma, resident of Mangal Nagar, Agar Road was a head constable posted in Central Kotwali police station. According to routine, after completing his duty at 12 noon, he went his home at Mangal Colony where he was living with his wife and children. Following lunch he went to his room where he hanged himself at about 4 pm. He was 50 years old.

The investigating officer ASI Naresh Dixit told Free Press that no suicide note was found from the spot. According to his family members, they are shell shocked and not in a position to suspect any reason behind the suicide as physically he was completely fit having no disease and had no financial crisis. There was neither any family rift, they said. He was a very cool and family loving person, family members added.

According to them, two months ago he was promoted as head constable and duty related stress could be the reason. As soon as the news spread, TIs Vivek Kanodiya (Kotwali) and Sanjay Verma (Chimanganj Mandi) reached the spot along with a probe team. Chimanganj Mandi police has registered a morgue report in the incident.
