Ujjain: Admin working hard to promote cashless trade in mandis


Ujjain: The district administration has been making desperate efforts to promote cashless trade at the Krishi Upaj Mandis to deal with the cash crunch. Mandi secretaries have been asked to install Point of Sale (PoS) machines, ATMs and extension counters of banks in the Mandis.

Barnagar mandi secretary Rajendra Kanojia was suspended for being absent at the inter-department meeting on Monday, chaired by collector Sanket Bhondve. During the meeting,the collector laid emphasis on the promotion of cashless services in grain markets. Mandi secretaries have been asked to purchase soil testing kits.

A farmers conference will be organised in the city on December 10. There will be 25 cooperative bank, 15 private bank, 2 Atma and 2 stalls each for fisheries and private sector machinery at the conference.

A review of ODF programme revealed by the woman and child development department showed that 33 out of 2060 anganwadi workers and 81 assistants were deprived of toilet facilities. Toilets would be built by November 30, the review stated. Anand Utsav will be celebrated in village panchayat in December. Ujjain municipal corporation was directed to run an extensive publicity campaign for UID registration.
