Thieves strike shops at Indore Gate

Ujjain : In what reflects the poor law and order scenario of the city, thieves struck at two shops in the Indore Gate area here on wee hours of Friday, and decamped with goods worth thousands. The exact amount of stolen goods it yet to be estimated. Ironically one of the shops National Battery was robbed just three months ago.

Mohammad Malik, owner of National Battery, said one of the thieves was a masked man and his image had been captured in the CCTV footage. This is the second in three month’s time that Maliks’s shop has been targeted by thieves. He said thieves took away batteries and cash Rs 5000 from the cash counter. Malik said thieves entered the shop by breaking open the ceiling. “Thieves have targeted my shop for the second time… earlier, in 2014, thieves had struck at my shop,” he said.

Malik further said during the previous thefts, he had provided CCTV footage to the police but to no avail. In the second incident where the thieves struck was a spare parts shop, Satish Automobiles.


Here thieves took away spare parts, tires and cash Rs 5000. The Dewasgate police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
