Ujjain: The 65th Republic Day was celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm in city on Sunday. The main function was organised at Dussehra Maidan.School education Paras Jain unfurled the National Flag and released balloons and pigeons as a symbol of peace and prosperity. After inspecting the R- Day parade, the minister also read out the message of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
Jain, collector BM Sharma and SP Anurag inspected the parade at Dussehra Maidan and took salute.The R- Day parade was taken out under the direction of Reserved Inspector.32nd Battalion led the parade while district police, home guards, NCC and police band accompanied them. Jain felicitated freedom fighters with shawl and coconut on the occasion. Various cultural programmes were presented by the school students at the function.
Lokmanya Tilak School, Government Girls School Sarafa, Vijayaraje School, Bharatiya Gyanpeeth and Child Protection and Juveniles Home students also performed on the occasion. Tableaux prepared by different official departments were exhibited during the R- Day ceremony.
NCC troupe bagged first while 10 MP Battalion second and Government Vijayaraje School bagged third prizes. Dr Sandeep Nadkarni was honoured for bagging Padamshree Mukutdhar Pandey Honour in Sri Lanka for his creative contribution on 8th International Hindi Sammelan. After conclusion of the programme, Jain joined mid- day meal special feast in Talod village. Jain on this occasion said that 47,000 teachers will be recruited in this year. Zila Panchayat CEO MP Patel, Joint Director Balwant Verma and District Education Officer RK Mishra were present on this occasion.
